Lately I've been going back to some existing illustrations and reworking them until they felt like a new piece. Some of the drawings were made for clients as elements of larger pieces, but they didn't feel quite finished enough on their own. And others have been finishes that I just wasn't quite happy with for one reason or the other.
I'm approaching these pieces as experiments with adding digital and textural elements, and as a means of taking drawings that I've been indifferent to and giving them a sort of second life. I've been coloring my work digitally for a few years now but have only recently been taking texture more seriously as an element of my finished illustrations. I feel like it helps ground the digital elements with a more organic feel. See below for a few examples..
